Damaged

I have been training very hard and I am getting close to my first Tri. Go to http://www.buttar.com/events/triathlon/WildmanTri/index.htm to take a look at the venue.
Unfortunately, I have been pushing myself too hard and have injured my right calve and possibly knee. I decided to take a week to recover after my rest week. I built 2 weeks of recovery time for illness or injury into my so called 16 week training plan. So far I used one of them as I felt that pushing myself forward would have done more damage than good.
I restart tomorrow and will try to hold myself back from pushing so hard. I am having withdrawals and want to get back to training. I tried to substitute weight training for biking and running, but that does not provide the endorphins I have become used to.

Ready to start a REVOLUTION- hint of things to come!

Feel'N Fat, not PHAT

Had a great week of training and then Cheesecake Factory'd it away. I was feeling pretty fat after a weekend of no worries.  So tonight I stepped on the scale and ouch..... 199.  I weighed in last wek at 193. Pretty serious swing.
Well, I signed up for my Olympic distance TRI. Its the Wildman Festival over near Lake Nona in March. Very excited about my first Tri. Tried ordering a wetsuit offline and its out of stock. I need to find one soon as the water will still be cold in March.
This is my Rest week... cut back on my workout intensities to let my body heal up. Hope I can get those cheesecake pounds off soon!

New Year- New Plan

Weighed in at 196 this week. I was surprised to see that number. I was sick twice during a months time. I decided to completely stop training and rest to recover from the head cold.
First week in January I began a 16 week training plan for the 70.3. I can see now it will not be a simple task.
Steve and I have decided to travel to Tucson for the Tri-Fest in March. Its a Triathlon training camp and expo. Should be a fun weekend. We have been looking for some triathlons to run prior to our Iron-Man. Looks like there is one during the month of February in Claremont, FL. Looks like a winner.
Steve did throw down today, He told me that I could not beat him in the run portion. I think it sounded like a challenge or maybe a little smack talk. He just finished a half marathon this weekend and is doing very well. I have not yet ran farther than 5 miles during my training. We shall see.....

Week 13- Merry Christmas

Logo_WeihnachtsIronman Kopie.jpg

I received a Christmas gift early....Broke the 200 lb barrier and feeling pretty good. I made my initial goal. Now for the next challenge. I am hoping to weigh 185-190 for the Ironman.
1st week of January I begin my training for the Ironman. Hopefully I can stick to the regimen. I found a good 16 week plan to prepare for a 70.3 and will try to follow it closely. I have not progressed too far in swimming. I try to do 30 laps in 30 minutes (50 yds per lap). I am running 5 miles twice a week and biking thirty miles. I am trying to progress slowly without injuring myself.

Week 10: Head Cold

Sick in the HEAD, I am. Came down with a head cold on Tuesday. Got one swim in on Monday and then it started. I decided to take the week off and not workout. Pretty bummed as I was really making progress last week: swimming, cycling and running farther and with higher intensities.
I have my eye on a couple of Olympic distance triathlons coming in March. I feel as if I need to do at least one prior to the Ironman. Hopefully I can get a  sprint and an Olympic in prior to the BIG ONE.

1st Corinthians 9:24-27

You know that in a race all the runners run but only one wins the prize, don't you? You must run in such a way that you may be victorious. Everyone who enters an athletic contest practices self-control in everything. They do it to win a wreath that withers away, but we run to win a prize that never fades. That is the way I run, with a clear goal in mind. That is the way I fight, not like someone shadow boxing. No, I keep on discipline my body, making it serve me so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified.

Weeks 6-8

Well not too much to report as my professional life has taken a turn and not too much time to train. I have struggled to keep on track for the last three weeks due to added professional responsibilities.
I have pushed myself farther and harder on each workout, but the frequency is lacking. This week I will try to break thru and have a much needed tough training schedule.
I have hit the 206 lb mark. Two months to go on my bet..... I must be under 200 lbs by February 1st or else suffer the consequences..... more to come.
